Theodore Rex is a downtown spot with a frequently changing menu where you can bring a date or a group to order the whole menu. Service was right on. Wow, one of the best tasting dishes I've had. I came her last Fall. The tomato toast and Persian cucumbers were standouts. A seat at the chef’s table? This place is a 10/10 in Houston and a 6.5-7.5/10 in NY/SF.

The food was different, flavorful and overall good. He's a native Houstonian, and launched his first restaurant, Oxheart, in 2012. I got the mushroom and bean dish and I was pretty disappointed that they were the same sauce from tomato toast in the mushroom dish, and it was way too tangy than it should be. I'd love to sit at the bar and have a view of all the action in the kitchen.
