The second time we went there were three of us and we stayed at an all inclusive in Montego Bay. I am sorry but there are several factors that affect crime in Jamaica and until its addressed this will never change. !Visited Jamaica some years ago.

I recently returned from Jamaica for a wedding that took place in October 2016. I learned to hop a regular taxi as I got tired of paying 40 USD to go places that were right down the road. Do not walk!! We met a taxi driver who scheduled a time or was just a phone call away that showed us parts of the island I don't think we could have never seen staying in our resort.

I can't wait to return in October 2016 & April 2017.

If you don't feel safe, then don't go.

The government are on the verge of putting Montego Bay under a state of emergency as of July 2016!!!!! Maybe most people have a fine experience, but the crime and corruption is out of control. I am from NY and have been mugged once - in a parking lot at a shopping mall back in the 80s- in my entire 40+ years of life. he also encourages those who commit murder to do their shit and by a woman not stand up to him and discipline him an d be blind to his behavior enables others like her to be murdered from her own country. Blacks are becoming more and more like endangered species in this country. We visit Kingston, a very beautiful city which is very sophisticated and the Blue Mountains but we do avoid Negril, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. It's my favourite place... there is crime everywhere you go not just here! God has created a beautiful world.

The people, food, entertainment, and the water and beaches are beautiful. I had an excellent driver named Owen. Do not be fooled, yes Jamaica is beautiful but the corruption level of the leaders is the main problem here, and crime and violence is rampant these days.

To really see and get the real feel of a country you should travel outside the resort your staying at. Support the arts. It was a slum. Confusion about the homophobia that I cannot understand since there are no shortage of willing futt buckers. This is a problem that needs to be addressed as most of these so called criminals lived in foreign countries most of their lives.
