Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or coffee and a cake, the food and drink is regionally sourced and beautifully prepared.…furry, feathered and scaly friends in the delightful Pets’ Corner down by the pavilion and play areas.…on the at the sacrifice of the men and women of the Chorley Borough who served during World War One in the outdoor space at the Garden of Reflection.…some traditional fun family games on the tennis courts, bowling greens and putting greens with equipment that is free to hire between April and the end of September.Journey through over 400 years of history to reveal the secrets of Astley Hall, one of the most intriguing historic houses in the North West.This surprising building features some of the most breath-taking mid-17th century plaster ceilings in the country, rare painted panelling and very fine English oak furniture.Caring for the health and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteers is a priority for Chorley Council and Astley Hall.Although the park open space remains open, some facilities within are closed until further notice, including some public toilets (the accessible toilet at the farmhouse is open) and pets corner (staff and students will continue to attend the site to care for the animals).Tennis courts, bowling greens and play areas are open however we urge you to follow latest guidelines when using them.
The Memorial Album, also known as the 'Golden Books' is on display in Astley Hall. They bring a wonderful array of shrubs, flowering and vegetable plants, plus vegetables and herbs, free range eggs and home made jams. Very interesting old mansion. We always have a huge Christmas tree in reception and residents enjoy helping put up decorations throughout our home. The Hall is set within the beautiful surroundings of Astley Park which include historic woodland, a lake, a fully renovated Victorian walled garden alongside clean and modern facilities for visitors to enjoy.The Hall is perhaps best known for its stunning Jacobean plasterwork ceilings and the house is built around an internal Elizabethan courtyard. We are now looking forward to the magic of Christmas and decking our Hall! The four wings of the house were extended by the families who lived here and most of the original features are retained to this day.The walled garden is a dedicated event space and since the Heritage Lottery funded renovation project in 2009 it has built up a varied programme of cultural events throughout the year. Astley Hall is a museum and art gallery housed within a Grade I listed historic house. Much of the produce is used by Café Ambio, the onsite café within the Coach House building. Floristry colleges and florists each decorate a room in the hall in a traditional and stunning style.
