Who is Slade to Robin

Whereas his original counterpart possesses a sadistic streak and repeatedly antagonizes the Titans (particularly Robin and Terra), this Slade is only concerned with his evil schemes and wanted nothing to do with the titular heroes until they proved to be a major problem.
